ONCA General Information Session (Friends of the Library Room):
ONCA Appreciation and Awards Luncheon (by invitation) (Baker Center Ballroom):
Below is the current process for pre-application. Everyone interested in applying is encouraged to take the first step toward a prestigious nationally competitive award.
- Attend the information session. Begin to investigate the websites and any written material. Begin to think about your application.
- (Optional) We encourage you to come and have a preliminary conversation about your interests, goals and plans with Ann Brown at the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards. This can help you develop your application materials. When you come to talk with her, bring a copy of your DARS and a current resume.
- Submit pre-application materials to the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards no later than 5:00 on April 29, 2002.
- We will distribute your pre-application materials to selected faculty members for review. We will then invite each of you for a personal interview during which faculty will explore your interests and goals while suggesting ways to strengthen your application.
- Rework and rewrite your application working closely with Ann Brown and faculty mentors.
- When you return in the fall, we will review your application materials and provide feedback. We will select the strongest applications, and those students will represent Ohio University. We are not limited in the number of students who can apply, only in the number of students whom we can endorse institutionally. Applications are due early to mid-October.
- We will conduct mock interviews first to strengthen your application and later in the process to prepare you for the “real thing.”
If you are interested but unable to attend either of these sessions, contact Ann Brown at 593-2725 or browna@ohio.edu.
