ANNOUNCEMENTS
OHIO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL AWARDS!!
Congratulations to Mandy White, a senior HTC Classics major, who has been awarded the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Humanistic Studies. This one year award provides a tuition grant and a $17,500 stipend for the first year of graduate study. Mandy will be pursuing her Ph.D. in Classics at Bryn Mawr next year.
Congratulations to Jack Steiner, a sophomore majoring in Astrophysics in the Honors Tutorial College and Applied Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences, for winning the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. Designed for students interested in science, math and engineering, the Goldwater provides up to $7,500 to winners. Jack will receive the award for two years.
Congratulations to Revati Prasad, a senior majoring in Political Science and Journalism through the Honors Tutorial College, for being named a Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Junior Fellow. One of only 8-10 selected for this honor nationwide, Revati will be working on the Non-proliferation project with CEIP.
And, finally, congratulations once again to Jessica Benson, a senior majoring in Engineering Physics through the Honors Tutorial College and Mechanical Engineering in the Russ College of Engineering and Technolgy, who has won an NSF Graduate Fellowship. The NSF provides winners with a $27,500 yearly stipend and a tuition grant for three years of graduate study. Natalie Kruse, a senior Civil Engineering major in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology, has been selected as an Honorable Mention by NSF. Both Natalie and Jessica won the Marshall Scholarship in the fall and will be studying in the United Kingdom for the next two years.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Louis Blair, Executive Director of the Truman Foundation, will be visiting Ohio University on April 21 to speak with faculty and students about the Truman Scholarship. The Truman grants $26,000 to assist future leaders in public service and government with funding for the senior year of undergraduate study and two or three years of graduate study. Juniors with a strong academic record who have demonstrated leadership and who are pursuing careers in government or public service are eligible to apply.
All interested faculty and prospective Truman candidates (freshmen and sophomores) are invited to attend the following sessions on April 21st to explore ideas for making Ohio University students more competitive in the Truman application process.

Gates Cambridge Scholarships
Scholarships cover University and College fees for graduate study or a second bachelor's degree at the University of Cambridge in England. Also provides a maintenance allowance, a contribution toward return airfare, and other discretionary allowances.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold, or expect to be able to obtain before October of year of application, a first class or exceptionally high second class honors degree; gain admission to the University of Cambridge and to a constituent college; and be able to meet the conditions set by the University for admission.
British Marshall Scholarship
The British Marshall Scholarship, which provides funding to study in the United Kingdom, stands along with the Rhodes in its exceptional prestige and competitiveness. The award covers living expenses, tuition, books, and airfare for two years, with a possible renewal for a third year.
Eligibility: U.S. citizen under 26 years old who has graduated from a U.S. college or university; GPA of 3.7 on academic coursework taken after the freshman year.
Mitchell Scholarships
The George J. Mitchell Scholarships provide tuition and room for study at one of several institutions of Ireland and Northern Ireland. An $11,000 stipend to cover additional expenses and a travel stipend are also provided.
Eligibility: Applicants must be US citizens, aged 18 or over but not yet 30 on October 1 in the year of application. They must also have academic standing sufficient to assure completion of a Bachelor's degree before they begin study under the Mitchell Scholarship.
Rhodes Scholarship
The Rhodes is one of the most competitive and prestigious awards available to students anywhere. It includes all fees, travel expenses, and a yearly stipend for two years of study at Oxford, with a possible renewal for a third year.
Eligibility: U.S. citizen between 18 and 24 years old at time of application; must have graduated by October of the year in which study at Oxford is begun.
Pre-applications for these awards are due to 35 Park Place by 5:00 p.m. on April 25th.
